6 weeks from now and it will all be over, and the only thing to show for all the work will be a pile of washing up and a mountain of screwed up wrapping paper.
It seems incomprhensible that so much time is invested, and so much planning goes on, for it all to be over so quickly.

I recently had an e-mail from my friend in Bristol. She is battling a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer......has had chemo and is now on radiotherapy.
The lump which was removed was very small, and initially she was told that she would be cured by the operation alone. Then they did further tests on the tissue and brought her back and told her that she needed to have more treatment, though was never told how aggressive the tumour was.

When I was a child we didn't have many holidays. I mean, the kind of holiday where you go away and stay somewhere. We never had the money for such luxuries.

Our holidays consisted of a day down by the River Ribble, with jam jars and home made fishing nets...these were a bit of bamboo with a circlet of wire slotted in them and one on Ma's old stockings made the net.

I was telling you about what I wanted to buy when I went on my trip to Worthing....a winter handbag. One with a pale lining, somewhere to put a mobile phone and a key fob. Large handbags are wonderful things, but they must have a key fob, otherwise your keys spend hours languishing at the bottom of your bag...and invariably you get wet through while searching round the bottom of you bag for the damn things in the pouring rain. It's a bit like chasing the soap around the bottom of the bath.

I am an avid reader.......and I will read almost anything. Most of the books are just 'borrowed' from the local charity shops.

What I mean by that is that I buy them, read them and then donate them back......often with the price tickets
untouched.
