Places I have loved.

Posted 10-12-07 at 22:25 by Magpi 47
The other day I was looking through my pictures.
I was trying to choose four pictures that would fit into a competition......the picture had to be one that uplifted me....something that dried out dampened spirits......you know the kind of thing......It's Monday morning......the wind is blowing and the rain is battering the window pane(and we have had a few of those recently)...the sky is the colour of lead.
You want to see something that will make you feel that although it is raining outside, there is some sunshine on the inside.

I have so many pictures and it was quite a job to pick just four of them.
Looking through my snaps transported me back to the time and place that the pictures were taken.
Not all of them feature sunshine.....but a lot of them do.
I looked at jewel coloured sunsets by the rocky shore, and could taste the salt spray on my lips.
I looked at pictures of Byron Bay, and remembered seeing people pointing out the dolphins at play. The 'earth magic' of that place made my toes tingle.
I'm not sure if you have ever experienced earth magic...or whether you think I had had something illegal that had disagreed with me.
another place that affected me similarly was Uluru.....that has spectacular earth magic.
One of the other places that I looked at was Green Island.......I had that picture as my desk top for ages, and I never tired of looking at it....remembering snorkelling and looking at the wonderful coral and tropical fish in their natural habitat, on the Great Barrier Reef......it also made me giggle as I remember being pitched out of the little boat face first into the warm blue water......with all my clothes on.....it was only my dignity that got bruised......and the warm sun soon dried me off.....I was just left with salt marks as a souvenir, and yes....of course the picture.

I could have spent all day looking at my pictures.....and I remembered thinking that at the time I took the pictures, it was for the purpose of warming me and brightening the dull winter days.
Pictures, like aromas are powerful in taking us back to places we have loved.
