I would love to be able to write beautifully but my hands just won't co-operate. That writing is lovely.

My Dad was a beautiful copperplate hand writer. While mine is legible it will never match up.

I would like to have a go, my Dad was very good and i have quite alot of coloured inks so will have a do!

By the way Kiki, off topic, but I picked up a box of 6 x150ml tubes of Acrylic paint in W H Smith's yesterday, for 6.99!!!

We had to use italic writing at school.We would spend hours practising to get just the right angle to the letters.But when we got to secondary school we couldn't keep up with the note keeping of the kids who did long hand at junior school

That sounds good value Sweetpea! Im not that keen on their watercolour s at Smiths as they arent as bright as say Cotmans ( for students and beginners). Not really looked at the acylics there but have bought students acrylics on E-bay quite cheaply!

I bought some cheap acrylics on holiday and the violet was weird. It just wouldn't stay where it was painted, all pealed off as did any other colour I mixed it in with. Very disappointing.

If you can buy just a few basic colours to start with thats all you need. I would buy the artists colours rather than the students. This way can mix the colours you want.The colours are much better and you get the quality!

I saw this and thought what a nice idea for a Christmas card!Christmas Card Painting Project -- Calligraphic Design Card by Sherryl Huseonica I find it a good website for idea,s and would love to have a go at combining shapes with calligraphy- maybe next year?
