A new masterplan for Nelson town centre contains several projects which will significantly boost the town economy.
The masterplan, which has been drawn up by the Council and award-winning Building Design Partnership, sets out the Council's vision for Nelson town centre. It will be used as a focus for regeneration as well as for marketing to stimulate investment in the town.
Some projects are already starting to happen, such as the new bus and rail interchange and the business centre being built opposite Nelson Town Hall. The plan also looks at addressing the three basic elements that underpin the health of town centres - attractions (shops, businesses, facilities and leisure economy), accessibility (arrival experience, car parking and linkages), and amenity (quality of public spaces, maintenance and quality of design).
