Yes we had carbolic soap, scented soap was not available the nearest we got to 'kind' soap was "Doctor Lovelaces Floating Soap", this was made in Clayton Le Moors on the canal bank near the main road bridge. This soap was a luxury item only used on Sunday to make us smell better for church, kid today dont know how well off they are.
