Default Barley

Lots of Sundays many, many years ago when I was a mere sprogg, used to spend our time at Barley.

My aunt and uncle used to own the property which is now the restaurant, the Barley Mow. They had a toffee shop, outside ice-cream shed, wooden hut to feed the hiker's lov-er-ly thick ham sandwiches and the best fat chips in the whole wide world, their living quarters, which comprised of three cottages. One of the living rooms was used as an indoor cafe.

My mum used to help my auntie, whilst my brother and I dossed around by the river, etc.

Still a beautiful spot for a visit, hasn't changed much 'cept for the car park .. bet the price of the property has though. !

Anybody out there remember visiting it as described after a hike over Pendle ? Might have even served ya' as didn't need any pushing to help serve in the Ice Cream hut. tee hee.

Can still hear the sound of the brown and cream bus as he struggled to find his gears on the way home ... uphill like.
