3 Child Snatch Alerts
DETECTIVES are investigating claims of the attempted abductions of three children in separate incidents in 48 hours.
A six-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl are being interviewed by specialist officers to establish exactly what occurred and whether the incidents are linked.
Officers are also holding an inquiry into an incident involving a 10-year-old girl, who ran away from a man who tried to grab her.
The first report was at 12-40 p.m. on Thursday when there was an attempt to abduct the girl in the Laithe Street area in Healey Wood. A man has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
In the second incident, police were called at 8-40 p.m. on Saturday after a teenaged girl alleged that she had seen two males try to take a six-year-old boy from Laithe Street.
Police would like to speak to four men, two of whom used the shop on the corner of Reservoir Street and Laithe Street.
And at 9 p.m. on Friday, the 10-year-old girl was walking in Lowerhouse Lane when she heard footsteps behind her.
A balaclava-clad man reached out as if to grab her, but she managed to run away.
The offender is a 6ft. 2in., of large build, wearing a black balaclava, black three-quarter length jacket, black shirt or jumper with collar, black baggy trousers, black shoes with a Nike motif on the side and black woollen gloves.
