Not sure if this is happening in your town but here in HYNDBURN the fire service is going round house to house checking if people have smoke alarms .
If you dont have them they will then fit 2 alarms with 10 year batteries in free.
I was talking to one and he said they hope to cover every house in the area .
And yes girls the fireman are in uniform hehe
I think this is great idea and makes you safe they also do a saftey check with you .
I also asked about the batteries he said once they are nearing the 10 years just throw the alarms out and ring us and we will fit new ones .
So if you get a fireman knocking on your door please take him up on his offer it could save your family's life
