Default Burnley HALSTEADs

Hi There

I'm looking for ANY of my HALSTEAD relatives:

Looking for info on James Halstead, my 4xgt grandfather and descendants.

In the Lancashire 1861 census, his son Bannister (12 years old), was living with his family at Holt’s Houses, Parish of St. Peter’s, Burnley (somewhere near the town centre). Members of the household were:

James Halstead, Head, Married, Age 43, Cotton Weaver, born Lancashire, Briercliffe

Elizabeth Halstead, Wife, Married, Ages 47, No occupation given, b. Lancashire Briercliffe

Margaret Halstead, Daughter, Unmarried, age 20, Cotton Weaver, b. as above

Mary Halstead, Daughter, Unmarried, age 18, Cotton Weaver, b. as above

William Halstead, Son, Unmarried, age 16, Cotton Weaver, b. as above

Ann Halstead, Daughter, Unmarried, age 14, Cotton Weaver, b. as above

Bannister Halstead, Son, age 12, unmarried, Scholar, b. as above (my 3xgt grandfather)

Dorothy Halstead, Daughter, age 8, Scholar, born Lancashire Burnley

Ruth Halstead, Daughter, age 5, Scholar, born Lancashire Burnley

Olive Halstead, Daughter, age 1, born Lancashire, Burnley

In the 1901 census :

Lancashire, Burnley
160 Grey St
Bannister Halstead Head M 53 Cotton Weaver Overlooker Burnley
Alice " Wife M 54 "
Alfred " Son S 23 Cotton Weaver "
Herbert " " S 19 Cotton Twister "
Robert " " S 16 " " "
Joseph " " S 16 Cotton Weaver "
Arthur " " S 14 " " "

My great grandfather was Joseph Halstead b.1884 Burnley. He was a Cotton Weaver at the time of his son's birth: (James Henry Halstead b.03/11/1906 14 Adlington St, Burnley).

In The Burnley Express of 09/11/1955 he appears in a photo with fellow war veterans, having paraded with the Limbless Ex-Servicemen's Association. He was 71 at the time and living at 8 Lawn St. He'd lost his leg serving with the Welsh Artillery in the Great War (1914-18). He served in Belgium and at Ypres.

His wife (Amelia Myers) divorced him, and with her young son, (James Henry Halstead - my grandfather) migrated to South Africa. She never remarried.

I'm keen to know if Joseph remarried and had any other children.

I'd love to hear from anyone who can assist in any way.

Cheers

Jonathan
