Perhaps "Freecycle" might be of interest to you.
Freecycle is an organisation that has groups around the world, where email is used to tell the members in your community that you have something to give away freely (as long as they come & pick it up) or that you are looking for something in particular (who knows, it may be in someones garage).
The main aim of Freecycle is to prevent landfill & heck knows we are running out of places to use for landfill sites.
So far in Lancashire we have groups in Preston, Rochdale & Hyndburn, well now we have one that covers Burnley & Pendle, so if your in Burnley, Padiham, Nelson, Colne or any other surrounding town's your welcome to join & help prevent landfill.
