Default Benefit game for Ted Tinman McMinn

was reading Clarets Mad today, and found the following article about one of my favourite players of the last twenty years - The Tinman
My biggest memory of whom, was that I don't think he EVER took a corner from any legal position - rather, about ten yards in from the touchline

""Derby County have revealed that they will be staging a benefit game at the end of the season for Ted McMinn who recently had a major operation that saw part of his leg removed.

The operation saw ‘Tin Man’ have his right leg removed four inches below his knee just three weeks ago and two of his former clubs have got together to arrange a game for him that will be played at Pride Park on Bank Holiday Monday, 1st May 2006, kicking off at 3:00 p.m.

The game is scheduled to be a Derby Select XI against the nine in a row Rangers team that won the Scottish Championship nine seasons in succession between 1988 and 1997 and already players have confirmed they will play.

Home side Derby will be managed on the day by Arthur Cox, who was manager at the time Ted was with the Midlands club, and Peter Shilton, Roger Davies, Kevin Hector and Mark Wright are already confirmed for the home side.

Ally McCoist leads the names for the Rangers team and their side will also include Brian Laudrup, Andy Goram, Mark Hateley and Richard Gough.

McMinn was only with the Clarets for around two years but soon became a popular figure with supporters, not least for his contribution towards the Wembley play off win against Stockport in 1994. He played just 46 league games for us during that period before leaving abruptly towards the end of the 1995/96 season.""

It seems a shame that Burnley are not doing anything (I don't think) for one of our most influencial players of recent time

Good luck to him I say
