Exclamation Children in Need

Record £34.2m for Children in Need.

A record-breaking £34.2 million was raised through last year's BBC Children in Need appeal, it has been announced.

The total smashed all records in the 25 years of the annual TV and radio event, hosted by Terry Wogan and Gaby Roslin in 2004.
The appeal raised more than £17 million on the night last November and the money has continued to pour in.

The total is nearly £3 million more than the 2003 final of £31.4 million.
Money raised from the event helps support disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK who have suffered serious or terminal illness, sexual abuse, neglect, homelessness, poverty, addiction or domestic violence.

Grants ranging from £500 to tens of thousands of pounds have been distributed to more than 1,700 registered charities, voluntary and community groups.

BBC Children In Need chief executive Sally Deighan said: "The fact that the appeal total has increased by £2.8 million this year is quite remarkable.
"Those who organised fundraising activities or gave a donation, and the network, local, regional and national radio stations and television services that, once again, supported us in their creative endeavours to highlight the social issues and stage fantastic events, should be exceptionally proud of themselves.

"The need is great and this support has ensured that more money than ever can be used to improve the lives of suffering and disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK." This year's annual television and radio appeal takes place on November 18.

Nice one!!!
