I'm not convinced by the argument that it will re-develop deprived areas, maybe it would get rid of poor people in an area - just for the rich to move in when the games are over. If they really did care about poor housing I think they should build affordable housing for the less well-off anyway - games or no games.
Wherever it is held we pay for it - who benefits? not you or I - the BAA get the cache, the developers get free buildings and the Olympics committee members get the back-handers. |
