Default Re: Parking Enforcement

You can also seek help from Mr. Baker who owns Falcon and Foxglove estate agency in Standish Street, Burnley and he has started his own company, ParkWiseR.

Very nice bloke and I had many a good conversation with him whilst wandering around that area.

From today's Burnley Express:

ARE OUR PARKING TICKETS ILLEGAL?
HUNDREDS of parking tickets handed out to disgruntled motorists who outstayed their welcome on the town's car parks could be illegal.
And, as council officers investigate the claim which relates to a technicality over the wording on local traffic regulation orders prior to August 22nd, a call has gone out for motorists wrongly penalised by Parkwise wardens to get their money back automatically.
Parking campaigner Mr Howard Baker, who was featured in last week's Express at the launch of his ParkwiseR company to help beleaguered motorists, brought the matter into the public eye at a meeting of Burnley Council on Wednesday night.
And yesterday he pledged that this was "only the start" of his battle as he had been inundated with calls from all over East Lancashire following the launch of his business and was now to turn his attention to the issue of yellow lines.
At the meeting he was thanked by council leader Coun. Stuart Caddy and his colleague, Coun. Peter Kenyon, for the "tremendous work" he had put into the investigations, which also showed up that tickets issued on a stretch of Bankfield were also "illegal".
Coun. Caddy said it had not been established how many tickets were involved but the matter would be brought to a future committee meeting when all the facts and figures were established.
"The council and town should be grateful to Mr Baker for bringing the matter to our attention," added Coun. Kenyon. "A number of those tickets issued by Parkwise were illegally issued because they did not have a sound basis in the traffic regulation orders in force."
And he pressed for motorists who have been issued with £60 fines after their pay and display tickets have expired to be automatically reimbursed, rather than them having to go through the "time consuming and stressful" individual appeals process as "a show of justice".
Mr Baker, who owns Falcon and Foxglove estate agency in Standish Street, told members: "People in Burnley are law-abiding and would rather avoid confrontation with the law."
