Its funny how in the very first post it is stated that the room is for use by people of faith yet every one seems to be concentrating on the fact that Muslims will be using it. If any one has been to the Trafford centre prayer room they would find prayer mats for Muslims, a massive statue of Jesus for Christians to pray to and Jewish and Hindu scriptures etc. Iv never heard of any fights between Mullahs and Priests there. there is a simillar room at Manchester Airport.
I read a comment earlier about how Muslims should just lay out their prayer mats and start reading. Judging from your reactions on a "Muslim prayer room", I dont think you would appreciate Muslims reading in the open. Lets be honest, most people here would have a face on and would be complaining about how their shopping experience is ruined. Besides those points, prayers are supposed to be a moment of peace and reflection. Not exactly suited to the town centre.
As far as the toilets facing the East goes, what a load of rubbish. Why on earth would we want to face Mecca while having a poo. We face Mecca when praying as a sign of respect to what we consider a holy site.
Honestly, the people of Burnley are becoming more and more intollerant day by day. that goes for Asians aswel as Whites. |
