I'm a 'bloody' car driver lol, I also ride a bike and walk, had to use the train the last time the oil terminals were blockaded - never again if I can help it! but agree wholeheartedly with most of what digsyboy has said. I'm fed up of inconsiderate parking/drivers 'saving' the bulbs in their indicator lights and not stopping for 'pedheads' .
I have no sympathy for people who get booked legitimitly for illegal parking - I'd clamp down on the school run, where parents 'abandon' their cars willy nilly as close as physically possible to the school gate so that their darlings don't have to expell any excess energy by actually walking.
You take your life in your hands crossing at a zebra sometimes - and it's true, you only have the right of way if you are on or have a foot on the crossing - mad isn't it? But I checked this out a while back in the highway code 'cos I'd always thought the ped had the right of way.
I always stop anyway if I can do it safely - does bug me though when people hang about at crossings not intending to cross, but looking like they want to!
The only thing I'm not in total agreement about is the issue of speed cameras, they can work as a deterrant when used in the right places - but how can you be concentrating on the road ahead while driving through an 'accident blackspot' when you are checking your speed and keeping up with the traffic flow? I know you shouldn't go over the limit at all, but have you tried this with an artic 5mm off your back bumper? Speed cameras have been abused, in order to make money - that's why people don't like them.
I've lost count of the times I've seen people run/ride cycles at night (with no lights) into the path of oncoming traffic, I'd like to see something being done to educate people about the dangers of this - I know it seems like common sense, and it is for most of us, but it's not getting through to some people!
hehehe - totally agree that some peds and cyclists are pillocks too - no doubt
but this is a rant at car drivers - will need another thread for the other two

Another thing that does my head in is when cardrivers get out of their fume pumping machines to get a pack of fags or sommat from a shop and leave their engine running - why?
