 Sweet Shops
Do you remember 'proper' sweet shops? My favourites as a child were the Chocolate Box on Colne Road, and Lena's on the corner of Waterbarn Street.
The 'penny tray' was always popular; penny arrow bars - a chewy strip in toffee, spearmint (pink) and I think liquorice flavours, shrimps, sugary jelly dummies, liquorice pipes etc..
Coconut tobacco, golf ball and anglo bubblies, traffic light lollies, monkey nuts and sherbert dib dabs, zoom ice lollies, 'funny face' ice cream lollies, mivvi's..boxes of 'weekend' chocolates, mint cracknel....any more..? |
