He was played by Steve Coogan in the film "24hr Party People" a few years back. It was about him and Factory records and the "Madchester" scene of the late 80's. Good film! - although I believe the makers were a bit sparing with the actual truth according to those that were there.
I find it a bit sad that everything that that went towards making Manchester the place to be in those days is now disappearing to make way for flashy bars, flats and offices. I suppose it is progress and brings prosperity for some. It's a bit soulless though - give me a skanky basement club over a flash-harry's glass and chrome hang out anyday!
