Hi Ollie.
The name is just a silly version of Ozzy Osbourne because I was a member of a Black Sabbath tribute.
Yeah, there's a hell of a lot of interest in rock bands in Burnley. I organise Quazfest every August at the Keirby Hotel, infact, as it happens, I'm thinking of changing venues this year for something a little better. We usually put a couple of well established, good quality tribute bands on (expect to pay around £250-£400 each for these) as headliners then fill the rest of the bill up with the best local talent available plus stalls selling appropriate stuff for rock fans. It works really well and we fill the place every year, all day, with serious beer drinkers and the Hotel owners do quite well off the bar takings.
Hmmmm, Vera Cruz, I've heard of them, but I suspect a lot of people around here haven't, which probably explains why you had a poor turn out. Slack Alice are a much better known band but would only attract the older market. (that's why tribute bands work so well at attracting audiences, if nobody has heard of the band, at least they've heard of the band that they are a tribute to. At Quazfest we try and put something on for all ages and tastes in rock. music because it attracts a wider ranged audience.
Funny you should mention Led Balloon because they're headlining Quazfest 2005. :)
I'll PM you my phone number, give me a bell and we'll talk about the jam night.
