 Re: Babies and Earrings.
The only reason I would not have had my daughter's pierced as a baby is purely, in my opinion, it looks ridiculous .. a baby's face is beautiful enough without gold studs in its ears. Thought myself, as mentioned, could be classed as some sort of physical abuse, after all, doesn't heal up completely and if offspring doesn't like when old enough; ya' never know, could lead to claims later in life the way 'blaim culture' is heading.
I also believe that human beings have a right to chose their own paths in life (although can't totally dismiss the influence your own leanings have on them, can you ?). i.e would never have dreamed of christening my children (atheist anyway) just to please the majority thinking .. this is like putting their name down for a Political party at birth .. just as bad as ear piercing in my opinion.
