Ive just been in a pub thats swapping over to an indian restaurant. Its in a village that has no other pub, the church has closed whats next the school? Ive been going in that pub for 30 years. I went in with my mum & dad and sat there with a coke and half a lager - if the police came in the coke was mine otherwise i was drinking lager. When I was 16 i went in there on my own and the landlord served me half a lager and said thats the last time you will drink in this pub until you are 18. He kept that promise and when i walked in on my eighteenth he said here you are half a lager happy birthday. I'd been going round accy since my 16th birthday and drinking down there. But if i went in there i always drank coke or orange or if he was trying out the non-alcoholic lagers i had one of them but now its shut until it re-opens as an indian. Im maudlin arent i?
