Well, maybe I'll get shot down too.......I am absolutely sure that the parents in question KNOW how they will be viewed for their mistake.
They made a judgement of a situation and it went wrong.
If the newspapers are telling the truth and they were 40 yards from their apartment....and they could see their front door......they thought that what they were doing was reasonable.
I have probably gone further away to hang out my washing.......The fact that they are professional people does not make them immune from making an error.......and don't you think they will be paying for it for the rest of their lives?
Castigating them at this time does nothing but magnify their feelings of grief and anxiety, that they may never see their child again. They are living through unimaginable heartbreak...so i'm sure what you are saying on this forum.....the mother is already saying to herself.
If this child had been taken while her parents were asleep in the flat, the mother would still have overwhelming feelings of guilt. She would feel guilty for taking the child on holiday. Guilt is a mothers companion......and if you show me a mother who doesn't feel guilty when something bad happens to her child.....I will tell you she is not natural.
There is no punishment for these parents worse than what they are suffering now.
My heart goes out to them, because with every passing day it is less likely they will see their child again.  |
